On Sunday, Dec 4, we celebrated St. Nicholas day a little different than in previous years. Mother Darlene talked about St. Nicholas and chocolates were handed out to all, and we blessed the children’s gifts, but we also honored Paul Cromheecke, a long-time member and Mediator’s St. Nicholas, with his robe, mitre, staff, and beard on display at the entrance of the sanctuary.
Paul began this role many years ago and his robe was made specifically by Judith Joseph. Special painted designs are included on the velvet robe such as a gold-colored Christmas tree, a sailing ship, gold coins, and other special designs. A photo of Paul in 2021 is also included with the display.
Paul’s memorial service is planned for Saturday, Dec 17.
The gifts for the 22 children will be delivered the week of Dec 19, and we thank each person that shopped, wrapped, and donated toward this important outreach to the children in our community.
