Five (5) bags of t-shirts for Berrien County agricultural migrant workers were collected between May 19 – 31. The shirts were delivered to a Southwest Michigan Interfaith representative who is coordinating the collection and delivery for these workers.

During the month of June, we are collecting baseball-type caps for sun protection to these workers in the fields. Bring your new or gently used caps and leave in the bell tower.

Below is the original announcement regarding t-shirt collections.

It’s Spring – Planting Season

Berrien County has an estimated 5000 seasonal agricultural migrants working with H-2A Visas in approximately 100 migrant housing camps licensed in Berrien County.

Three faith communities affiliated with Interfaith Action are launching a Faith in Action Springtime Project to welcome migrant agricultural workers.  The three faith communities will be collecting tortillas, baseball caps, and men’s T-shirts short and long sleeve shirts throughout the season.  This effort complements Interfaith Action’s October Celebration of the Harvest and Harvesters when all faith communities are invited to collect donations of rice and beans.

During the month of May they are collecting gently used t-shirts, long and short sleeve, for the agricultural workers.  Please consider donating your t-shirts in the basket in the bell tower.  Thank you.
